Senior Important Things to Do

  • Check your schedule to make sure you are taking every class you need for the diploma you are seeking.  Visit your guidance counselor immediately if your schedule is incorrect.
  • Meet with college admissions and military representatives who visit NHS during lunch.  Take 3 College/Career/Military visits each semester.  Stop by the Guidance Office or click here to download your College, Career, and Military Visit Form.
  • Attend the NHS College/Career/Military Night in September.
  • Take the SAT and ACT  if you need to for college admissions or scholarship contention. See "Important Dates for Seniors" below. Register for the SAT at www.sat.collegeboard.org.  Register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org
  • Register for the NCAA clearinghouse if you are a prospective Division I or Division II athlete at www.eligibilitycenter.org.  Registration is mandatory!
  • Attend the NHS Financial Aid Night in January with your parents to understand how to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • File the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov by March 10 if you plan to attend post-secondary school next year.  Go online to register for college and scholarship/financial aid searches.
  • Visit the scholarship page on the Guidance website weekly.  Follow @Miller_Guidance on Twitter and listen to the daily announcements.  Apply for all scholarships for which you are eligible -- scholarships are awarded to many types of students.
